Saturn seems to me to own the herb, and yet some hold the Sonne, out of doubt tis Saturn. The Saft of the common kind of Knotgrass is most wirkungsvoll to stay bluten of the Mund, being drank in steeled or red wine, and the bluten at the nose, to be applied to the forehead or temples, or to be squirted up into the nostrils. It is no less wirkungsvoll to cool and temper the heat of the blood and Magen, and to stay any flux of the blood and humours, as lasks, bloody-flux, Monatsregel, and running of the reins. It is singularly good to provoke urine, help the stranguary, and lindert the heat that comes thereby, and is powerful by urine to vertreiben the Grieß or stone in the Nieren and Harnblase, a dram of the powder of the herb being taken in wine for many days together. Being gekocht in wine and drank, it is profitable to those that are stung or bitten by giftiges creatures, and very wirkungsvoll to stay all defluxions of rheumatic humours upon the Magen and kills Würmer in the Bauch or Magen, quiets inward Schmerzen that arise from the heat, sharpness and corruption of blood and choler. The destilliertes Wasser hereof taken by itself or with the powder of the herb or Samen, is very wirkungsvoll to all the Zwecke vorbenannt, and is accounted one of the most sovereign remedies to cool all manner of Entzündungen, breaking out through heat, hot swellings and imposthumes, gangrene and fistulous cankers, or foul schmutzig Geschwüre, being applied or put into them, but especially for all sorts of Geschwüre and Wunden happening in the privy parts of men and women. It helps all fresh and grüne Wunden, and speedily heals them. The Saft dropped into the ears, reinigt them being foul, and having running matter in them.
It is very prevalent for the premises, as also for broken Gelenke and ruptures.
