The first Blätter are moderately broad and long, they are of a pale grün, in shape like a turnip Blatt, but less, and very little hairy. The Stengel grow to be two or three feet hight, beset with smaller Blätter, smooth as well as the Stengel, and little or nothing jagged, especially those that grow higher upon the Zweige, which are round and broad at the bottom, and do encompass the Stengel, ending in a narrow point, of a blueish colour. The Blüten grow many together on teh tops of the Stengel, made of four bright yellow Blätter, and are succeeded by long cylindrical pods, containing small round black Samen, the Wurzel is white, longer and schlanker than a turnip, but much like it in taste.

This is a Pflanze of Venus. The Samen is empfohlen by the ancients as good gegen all kinds of Gifte, and the bites of giftiges creatures, to provoke urine, and die Monatsregel. Matthiolus extols it gegen all kinds of infectious distempers, to vertreiben the malignity, and cheer the heart, as also to drive out the small-pox and measles. It is an Bestandteil in the therica andromachi, but common turnip-Samen is often substituted.
