The Wurzel, form a small head, shoots out many Fasern. The Stengel is pretty aufrecht, of a pale grün, round, very much branched, and wächst to about three feet high. The Blätter are of a schwach grün, and finely geteilt at the edges into small Abschnitts. The Blüten grow in a large head like scabions, and are of a fine blue, but they are manchmal found of a rötlich or white colour.
It is a biennial, common on high pastures.

It is unter der Herrschaft von Merkur. It is bitter, of a slightly astringent saponaceous quality, and excellent gegen the disorders of the Brust, such as Husten, asthmatic affections, difficulty of breathing, &c. for which Zweck an infusion of the Blätter is the best preparation. The Blüten are said to be of a cordial unterstützenden nature, and good gegen feverish complaints, the Saft applied äußerlichely, is good gegen foulnesses and discolourings of the skin.
